Music

Since childhood, music has been an integral part of my life, whether it be in the context of academia, personal enjoyment, or familial importance. In total, I have 12 years of experience playing the clarinet, my instrument of choice, as well as experience in reading and analyzing classical music.

Wind Symphony Concert - Nov 2024

My most recent ensemble music concert was with the TSU Wind Symphony band. This particular clip is from a performed piece called “The Isle of Calypso” from Symphony No 2. The Odyssey by Robert Smith, my personal favorite of the pieces. This part of the concert was conducted by Curran Prendergast, Director of Bands.

Wind Symphony Concert - April 2024

Another one of my favorite musical experiences in the TSU Wind Symphony was the performance of An American Eulogy by Robert Tichelli. The piece addresses and commemorates the victims of the 1999 Columbine Massacre, which struck a chord with our conductor, the ensemble, and the rest of the country. It incorporates the use of video at the beginning of the piece of a news report as a captured moment in time.

This piece and my part in its performance was a contributing factor to my passion of incorporating advocacy into my artistic work. Knowing how deeply music can affect others, I want to use my work to shed light on issues I care about.
